Nobody know’s what they’re doing..

With thanks to the lovely Michelle Hepburn who gave me the heads up, I was lucky enough to attend an NZIPP event recently in Wellington, ‘Where Story Meets Light - An Evening With One Half of Bayly and Moore’.

Bayly and Moore are a couple of very talented photographers, based in Auckland, living the dream, travelling all over the world photographing awesome stuff. I love their style and find myself scrolling through through their galleries and losing chunks of my time! Check out their website, you’ll do it too :)

I also chatted with a few other photographer’s from around the area. Sometimes meeting new people, especially your peers can be so intimidating and scary! Personally, I like to torture myself a bit and during the 1.5hr drive from my house to Wellington I had thoughts of not finding a carpark, arriving late and interrupting.. I left 2.5hrs early so not a likely scenario! Or, finding I’d spilt coffee down my shirt and only realising when the event finished. Having stuff stuck in my teeth, etc. It was fine, as things usually are :)

Si, (the one half) was very inspirational and among loads of other very important things, he said something that stood out to me that I love to read over and over again, ‘nobody knows what they’re doing’. Yes! Because, don’t we all get into something and especially if it’s something new and exciting and we’re excited about it, at some point little doubts start creeping in… what if it isn’t good enough/nobody likes it/it’s dumb/where am I going with this/I have no clue what I’m doing here.. it doesn’t matter! Because nobody else know’s what they’re doing either :)

Have you got a project or an idea that you aren’t sure about? Is it gonna work? Try it out. Do it. Get it out there!
