Manawatu Wedding Expo

This past Sunday I exhibited at the Manawatu Wedding Expo. It was an amazing experience! I only found out the Expo was on a few days before and managed to nab a fantastic spot on the ground floor amongst some very talented people! I met some lovely fellow exhibitors including local photographer Kim Sargent, Melissa of Envie Skin Health & Makeup and Trena, Freelance Hairstylist of Elegant. Such nice ladies!

A quick squiz at Pinterest and I had my vision of a pallet with some random frames and hanging pics on string. I already had some little bottles at home so I nailed some on and added flowers, hammered on a wire love heart given to me by a beautiful friend, borrowed a hand sewn love heart from my little girl for luck and pulled down my fairy lights from the living room and voila! I can be a bit of a procrastinator at times and visions remain just that, never materialising into anything but taking up space in my brain! ;) I was pretty stoked to create something in a short space of time and was more than happy with the result. I had some bunting I made last summer, stole the rug from the living room as well as a couple of tables, a spiky cactus from another dear friend and a gorgeous little succulent from flora n fauna. I created a slideshow on my Mac and whipped up some postcards to giveaway. Ta daa!

The drive from my house to the Palmerston North Convention Centre took about 40 minutes so I listened to an old favourite album and sang loudly the whole way. (I have a newfound respect for singers, it’s really hard to sing for 40 minutes straight!) This stopped me thinking about how nervous I was! I was so worried that nobody would talk to me or I would say something inappropriate and awkward :)

It was such a great experience. I connected with a few lovely brides and I’m so happy that some have since chosen me to photograph their special day. Yay! I’m beyond excited. And so pleased I decided to give complimentary engagement shoots with my wedding packages as it means I get to hang out with them for a while in a more relaxed way and we can get to know each other better before their big day of becoming Mr & Mrs x
