About me

Hello! And welcome! I'm Melissa and I love creating beautiful images for my couples. 

I love wrap around your neck hugs from my two little people, one of whom is taller than me and the other not far behind. I love tramping. I love trail running.

I spent my childhood in Wanganui. I tried a Foundation Art programme in Palmerston North after school, then moved to Wellington and studied Graphic Design while working for the ANZ Bank. I met my future husband there and when work took me to Auckland, he came too and we were married at Mudbrick on Waiheke Island in 2005. 

We spent 4 years living in the UK, then Sydney and eventually Waiheke Island again with the two little people. We have been living at Waitarere Beach outside of Levin, 1.25 hrs north of Wellington since 2015 and my Mum lives here too. We love being near the beach and forest where we spend lots of our free time.

My photography style is a bit like me as a person, I like to blend and capture what is happening around me. I try not to intrude too much until needed, letting the moments play out so I can capture them as genuinely as possible. I won't take you away for photos for a long time; with some preplanning we'll have lots of fun with some laughter and good light before heading back to your favourite people ready to party into the evening!

I've photographed over 200 weddings and I still get super nervous and pinch myself on the way to every single one.
